## Overview

[The PASCOM cloud phone system software](https://www.pascom.net/en/) includes with a fully integrated fax server as standard.

The included fax server is [HylaFax](https://www.hylafax.org), which is connected to the Asterisk telephony server via virtual IAX modems.

The integrated fax server provides users with a number of [UCC optimisating functions](https://www.pascom.net/en/all-in-one-communication/), which are described in this how-to:

* Receive faxes via E-mail.
* Send faxes via the [PASCOM App](/en/user/pascom-app-userguide/fax.md).
* Send faxes via [Mail-to-Fax](#mail-to-fax) as an e-mail forwarding.

## Fax Server Configuration

Under **Appliance** > **Services** > **Fax Server** you will need to activate and setup the fax server:

| Number of send attempts | Indicates how many attempts will be made to send a fax if the remote station is temporarily unavailable. |

## Mail-to-Fax

### Configuration

In order to be able to use Mail-to-Fax, you will need to setup your virtual fax server using the following PASCOM cloud phone system admin UI menu options: **Appliance** > **Services** > **Fax Server**.

The PASCOM telephone system provides an e-mail address that can be used to send and receive virtual faxes. Here you have no further configuration effort.

### Sending Faxes

Simply send an e-mail with the following construction:

| Field      | Example                 | Description                                     |
| ---------- | ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- |
| To         | <fax@mail.pascom.cloud> | Enter the e-mail address of your virtual inbox. |
| Subject | 00991123456999 | Enter the fax number of the recipient. |
| Attachment | | This is the actual fax as PDF or TIF file. |

Depending on your fax server configuration choices, the contents of the e-mail will also be sent in the fax.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.pascom.net/en/integrations/modules/fax.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
