# Contacts from DATEV

Synchronize your DATEV contacts with the global company phonebook of the PASCOM PBX

The **DATEV Contact Importer** synchronizes client contacts with the global company phonebook of the PASCOM PBX. The advantage is that client data is also displayed outside the DATEV world. Users can therefore see the contact data locally or on mobile devices, and not just in the DATEV workspace.

## How does it work in detail?

Unlike the classic [DATEV Integration](/en/integrations/modules/datev.md), the **DATEV Contact Importer** pairs with a user's PASCOM App, which is installed on the DATEV workspace. The synchronization into the global company phonebook is then triggered via the PASCOM App. This phonebook is then available to all users on all devices.

{% hint style="info" %}
The [DATEV Integration](/en/integrations/modules/datev.md) should be completed and configured before you use the DATEV Contact Importer.
{% endhint %}

## Setup

1. Log in to the Admin UI of the PASCOM PBX as an administrator.
2. Navigate in the menu to **Settings** > **Connector**.
3. Click on **Add** and select the **DATEV Contact Importer**.
4. Assign a name for the connector in the next window.
5. Select a user whose PASCOM App will handle the synchronization.

{% hint style="info" %}
Many law firms set up a separate synchronization user (Sync User) for this purpose, who acts exclusively for this task.
{% endhint %}

This completes the setup.

## Synchronization

The synchronization runs fully automatically. The PASCOM App performs the synchronizations at specified intervals, which are distributed throughout the day. There are no exact times due to load balancing.

### Does the PASCOM App of the user paired with the connector always have to be running?

Yes, the synchronization only takes place if the corresponding PASCOM App is also running. This means: If normal day-to-day work is carried out, the PASCOM App is running anyway and synchronization takes place fully automatically in the background.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.pascom.net/en/integrations/connector/contacts-datev.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
